Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings - Forest, VA

The Keys to A Beautiful Smile

When it comes to keeping the smile beautiful, healthy, and whole for decades to come, the standard dental checkup and teeth cleaning are two of the most effective preventive dentistry services we provide every day. With just two visits each year, the Crossroads Family Dentistry team can help our patients have the kind of confident, problem-free smiles they never have to worry about. Why are they so necessary even if you brush and floss every day? We’re so glad you asked…

Why do I need dental checkups?

A “checkup,” which is just a more casual name for an oral exam, gives our team the opportunity to catch small dental issues before they can really do damage to your smile. Conditions like cavities and gum disease are VERY hard to spot during their early stages, and most patients won’t notice them until they are quite advanced.

Thanks to our doctor’s years of experience and trained eyes, they’ll be able to take care of many issues while they are nice and small, saving you from having to get more extensive (and expensive!) treatments in the future. These checkups also give us the opportunity to explain your dental health so you can fully understand your needs and why we might be recommending a particular treatment.

Brushing and flossing are essential for a healthy smile, but the truth of the matter is that your tools at home simply can’t clean every single surface of your teeth. These hard to reach areas can accumulate plaque over time, and you know what that means—cavities and/or tenacious calculus (hardened plaque). Using sophisticated tools, our hygienists can target these problem areas and even scrub surface stains off of your teeth to keep them nice and white.

So, if it’s been more than six months since the last time you or your child have been to the dentist, be sure to schedule a checkup and cleaning. In the end, it’s one of the best things you can do for your smiles. To schedule an appointment, contact us today.
